So... today was a big day for me. The new school Nicholas is going to does not have a nurse on site to help manage his diabetes so I have been staying at school everyday. I have been teaching his teacher how to check his blood and the signs to watch out for, she has been doing GREAT! They are not allowed to give him his insulin but are allowed to test his blood sugar. SO today I left him in class for one hour without me. He did great and was happy as can be they told me, but me on the other hand cried like a baby all the way to the car and never actually left the school...lol! Tomorrow I think I am going to go home for an hour. I must sound so silly, but those of you who are mom's know what I am going through. How did my baby grow up so fast???

  1. Dear Krista,
I came across your blog because I have a google alert for JDRF. It is a nice way to reach out to other families affected by diabetes. My Daughter Sarah was dxd at age 3.
I cried too just reading your blog, I remember her first day of school and sitting in the car and crying too. Thank God you can be there with your son- that is a blessing.
    Take care,
